I’ve been following mister Brodie on YouTube ever since him and Mitch started the channel. I’ve seen every single video they uploaded – even the motorcycle ones, even though I don’t care much about that topic. I’ve learned a ton and was entertained for many hours. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Paul and Mitch for everything you do.
I’ve been lusting over vintage Brodie MTBs for years before the YouTube channel hit off. These bikes aren’t very common in Eastern Europe. I only ever saw a handful for sale and they were way out of my budget. And I’ve never actually seen one in real life before. And then, one day, somebody uploaded an ad from my vicinity. I’ve texted immediately and shortly after secured my first, very own Brodie. The seller had it since new, then his son was riding it for a while, who grew out of it eventually.

It’s a Torque model, and according to the specs it’s most likely from ’98. It isn’t made in Canada – instead, in Taiwan. So this Torque is not nearly as sough after as an early ’90s Romax or a Sovereign. But I don’t care about that. It’s still a Brodie, and it’s an awesome bike.
A few changes were of course necessary. I’ve started with removing the kickstand and the reflectors, then I went on to swap the stem, bars, seatpost, saddle, pedals and finally the crankset. Then I replaced the usual worn-out stuff like brake pads, cables, grips and tyres.
To be fair, there isn’t much more to write about here. I bought the bike, swapped a few parts and done. It’s damn near perfect. It’s definitely the best MTB I’ve ever owned and I don’t intend to ever sell it. And I probably should’ve cleaned it a bit before taking these pics…
